Hi guys! Sorry for disappearing for a little over a week (and missing this week’s Too Cute Tuesday). We have been busy painting & doing other things that I just haven’t had time to sit down and write a post! Today I am going to share what our living room looks like with a fresh coat of paint! Hello blue living room and bye-bye baby vomit green color & marks/dents/holes… (more…)
We have officially moved into our new-to-us home! I’ll start out this post on Thursday’s events and update you from there until today (Monday). On Thursday I finished the last of the packing and that evening when Joe got off work we immediately went and picked up our gigantic 24′ Uhaul! That thing is a beast. We were worried about it being too much room because it said for 3-4 bedroom homes and ours was a 2 bedroom. But apparently I’m just really good at organizing and packing things away that we were able to fill that thing with no problem (and still have some stuff left over at the in-laws place!). We wanted to get the 20′ but they didn’t have any for our moving weekend so I guess it’s a good thing we got the 24′!
Are you getting ready to move? We are! We are moving to a new-to-us home this Friday and we are moving ourselves (DIY!) with help from friends/family! I have compiled a list of 9 tips & tricks on how to pack for a move and stay organized along the way:
1. Grocery Bags will be your new Best Friend
If you are reading this post far ahead of your move then start saving a ton of grocery bags now to use for wrapping stuff (basically free bubble wrap and then you can recycle or repurpose later!). And, if you have space, save packing materials (bubble wrap, paper, etc) from every package you get to use for your move. I had an entire bin full of packing materials I saved from over a year. And even though I had all this material I still went through a giant roll of bubble wrap!
I don’t know about you but I’ve accumulated a lot of those plastic storage containers with drawers (mostly while I was at college). They hold a ton of craft materials and just other random things. They have been through several moves and every time I’ve moved, when someone goes to pick them up, the drawer starts to slide out with the potential for EVERYTHING to fall out. Fortunately, the drawers have always been caught before they completely fall so, no harm done.
Welcome to Project Abode and thanks for checking out my very first blog post! As most of you have probably seen on social media… Joe and I bought a new home! The home is 4 bed & 2.5 bath with an unfinished basement, located on a cul-de-sac. We plan to stay at this home for a very long time so we wanted room for a future family. The blog idea came about so I could share my projects around the home with you. I have so many ideas for posts and I’m excited to share them with you! (more…)
